'Restaurant of the Month- The Cock'The Cock Pub and Restaurant is a bustling country style Restaurant which still retains a separate Pub area for locals. The Good Pub Guide made it the country best ‘Dining Pub’ in 2010 edition and it is listed in Good Food guide, Sawdays Special Places , Hardens, and Camra Good beer guides. The Cock is a very homely, down to earth place. The Service is really friendly but also very professional. The food is no nonsense but there is enough there to interest an experienced palate. The beer is local as is as much of the produce as possible. The Restaurant is famous for its sausages, still made on site by one of the owners. A Fish board is changed daily and tends to carry four starters and at least four main courses. The menu is fresh, seasonal and very well put together. The wine list has been thoughtfully compiled to provide a balanced and interesting variety of wines at very sensible prices. The pub is totally separate from the restaurant and so drinkers are comfortable and similarly eaters can relax in restaurant surroundings. A delightful garden gives a wonderful environment for summer dining and drinking and wood burners make it cosy in the winter. The annual August bank holiday beer festival has grown into one of the best in the area. The Cock sits right in the heart of Hemingford Grey, a beautiful village on the River Great Ouse. A place for all seasons and occasions, The Cock is a warm, homely, convivial place to relax and enjoy food and service at the top of its game.
