Cambridge Family Mediation Service has been offering support to separating families and their children for over 25 years. They are based in Regent Street in Cambridge, near the bus and rail stations and there is parking nearby and can be contacted on 01223 576308.

Family mediation offers a confidential way for people going through family breakdown to discuss their problems together in the presence of a neutral mediator and to reach agreements about the best way forward. The things which can be discussed in mediation include where the children will live when parents separate, how they will share time between their parents and extended family, and how property, pensions and other financial assets are to be divided up.

Mediation is also suitable for members of the extended family, eg grandparents who may be finding it difficult to see their grandchildren, or teenagers who are finding it difficult to get on with their parents.

They have a counselling service for children and young people aged 4 to 19 who are affected by family breakdown. This is free of charge will always be in a confidential setting with each session lasting about 50 minutes, depending on the child's age. The sessions are 'child centred' and younger children may choose to use toys, art materials, books or games to express their feelings. They also provide group and individual work with parents and children in schools. They rely on charitable donations to provide our free and subsidised services.
