Wintercomfort was founded in 1990 by Henry Rothschild as a response to the lack of winter night shelter provision for the homeless in Cambridge.
We aim to address wider issues commonly associated with homelessness: substance misuse, mental health illness, offending, institutionalisation, poor self esteem, abuse, physical health problems and many more.
Wintercomfort has traditionally been associated with providing winter night shelters, for the third year in a row we will open overnight when the temperature freezes providing sleeping space from 8.00pm – 8.00am an essential service for those most at risk through rough sleeping in cold weather.
The charity works closely with a number of other homelessness agencies in the City and receives strong public support.
