Wear something Green for your lifesaving Team
Wear something green for your lifesaving team

Help save a life for £1

Green Day is the annual fundraising initiative from Magpas, the Emergency Medical Charity.

We hope lots more schools in Cambridgeshire will join the growing numbers that have already committed themselves to supporting Green Day. All people need to do is get their school to join in and then collect £1 from everyone that takes part. The proceeds from the event will literally help save lives.

Magpas continue to save countless lives each year across the region through their Emergency Medical Team which were mobilised to over 800 serious incidents in the east of England in 2009 and their Community First Responder Scheme who volunteered over 150,000 hours worth of their time within their communities, responding to over 2000 medical emergencies in 2009.

The Emergency Medical Team (EMT) is made up of expertly trained doctors and paramedics who deliver Emergency and Critical Care Interventions to patients at the scenes of very serious medical emergencies. It is Magpas’ close working partnership with Cambridgeshire Police Air Operations Unit, East of England Ambulance Service Trust and EAAA that Magpas are able to deliver such a rapid and coordinated response to anywhere in the East of England. Magpas with Cambridgeshire Constabulary operates the only Civil Aviation Authority approved night HEMS service with Doctors in the UK.

All of the doctors and paramedics have to complete an intensive course which has been specifically designed by Magpas to ensure the team members are thoroughly prepared for every potential scenario. The course is just one of the reasons why Magpas is considered to be the leading provider of region-wide emergency medical treatment in the UK.

Magpas also operates a First Responder scheme which enables non-medical volunteers to save lives in their local community. They are trained, equipped and coordinated by the charity so they can attend serious incidents in their immediate communities. The majority of these incidents are heart attacks, cardiac arrests and patients who are experiencing breathing difficulties. All of the Community First Responders are trained to use an automatic defibrillator, which they carry as an integral part of their kit.

Magpas also have dedicated trauma research program that is the only one of its kind in the UK.

If your school, would like to take part in Green Day please call Debbie on 01480 371 062 so that an information pack can be sent to you, this includes a participants poster, stickers and collection box.
