Cambridgeshire Police used their twitter feed to quash rumours of riots around the county last night.
Throughout the night concerned residents posted messages on the social networking sites after rumours about incidents were posted online.
The force helicopter was out above Cambridge around midnight and according to the updates one person was detained after a vehicle failed to stop for officers.
Five people were also arrested after officers were called to reports of a group of youths in the city.
Earlier in the day the day police issued several statements urging people in the county to remain calm.
Deputy Chief Constable John Feavyour said: "I would stress there have been no incidents of violence and disorder reported in the county. Businesses and residents should continue with their lives as usual.
"We are monitoring the situation in London and other parts of the country. However there is no information to suggest there is any threat to this county.
"I would urge people to not pass on these rumours via email, text or via social media."
Cambridgeshire Constabulary again sent a Police Support Unit of 25 officers to London to assist the Metropolitan Police last night.
