A former Cambridgeshire firefighter is urging people to become organ donors after he was given a new liver which saved his life.
A car and train have collided just north of Littleport - killing the car's driver.
It happened at Ten Mile Bank at around 1.15pm this afternoon (12 July).
It was the 12.56pm train from King's Lynn to London King's Cross. None of the passengers on the train were hurt.
Services in and out of London are likely to be affected this evening and possibly tomorrow morning too.
The Magpas Helimedix arrived at Ten Mile Bank at 1:45pm via helicopter.
The Magpas Doctor pronounced the death of a male driver of the car on the scene. They also checked the welfare of the passengers on the train and found no one to be injured.
A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said:
"BTP officers were called to Pleasant level crossing, near Downham Market, Norfolk, on Thursday, 12 July, following a report of a car being struck by a train.
"Norfolk and Cambridgeshire Constabulary officers also attended the incident, which was reported to BTP at 1.15pm, along with local fire and ambulance services. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Police are currently working to establish the full circumstances including how the car came to be on the tracks.”
"The train involved was the 12.56pm Kings Lynn to Kings Cross service."
Passenger Ashley Tuttle from King's Lynn was on the train, talking to Star radio's sister station KL.FM she said:
"Suddenly there was this massive smash and me and my boyfriend just looked at each other thinking what was that.
"Lots of things like debris sort of pushed past the window and there's either scratches or water still on the window now.
"The train just started suddenly slowing down and we didn't really now what it was.
