We want to invite you into our world. It’s full of magic, wonder and strange characters. You can reach it quite easily on Bristol’s Harbourside. Look for a brick door.
Join us through an open door and discover Puppet Place, Bristol’s very own centre of excellence for artists and makers. Explore the building and the spaces around it, watch performances, films and meet the people behind the puppets.
In the morning you can get a fascinating insight into the backstage world of prop and puppet creation, through a live demonstration by Welsh National Opera’s Torben Schacht – prop maker extraordinaire; while in the afternoon sit back and enjoy shows, films and strange characters from new and established Bristol puppeteers, including Pickled Image, Gongoozler and Puppets and Pandemonium .
Bring your teddy bears to meet Granddad a lovely, little old man who is here to tell you his wonderful and exciting adventures. Discover an enchanting world of shadow, sea and water and meet a monster who just wants to be friends….and much, much more!!!

SEVENTH STOURBRIDGE FAIR SET FOR SEPTEMBER
The seventh re-creation of Stourbridge Fair will take place on Saturday 11th September 2010 (12pm to 4pm) in the grounds of the Leper Chapel on Newmarket Road – one of the city’s oldest surviving buildings and a structure now owned and maintained by local conservation charity Cambridge Past, Present & Future.
The Stourbridge Fair re-enactment is organised by the Friends of the Leper Chapel and reflects what the event might have been like in the Middle Ages when it was one of the largest of its kind in the country.
Local dignitaries will be joined on the day by a variety of stallholders and entertainers. These will include a cheese seller, also offering magnificent home made pies and sandwiches; resident beekeepers selling honey and other 'bee products'; the Townswomen's Guild who will provide tea, coffee, sandwiches and a range of homemade scones, cakes and jams; plus representatives from Trumpington Community Orchard who will be on site selling apple juice and giving advice on heritage apples. A Community Apple Press will also available on the day offering plenty of interactive opportunities!
On: 12pm Sat 11th Sep 2010
Until: 4pm Sat 11th Sep 2010
